  5. Wrong. If you say your car was stolen, the police ask you what kind of car, where and when and expect you to prove you had a car and didnt just loan it to someone or misplace it.

  7. Johann Goethe Its not even a matter of lying, so much a matter of corrupted memory and colored perception. I interned as a woman's center, for my postgrad psych program and we saw lots of this stuff. Women suddenly revealing childhood trauma to transfer guilt and claim victim status in a relationship, misremembering situations, misinterpreting situations. Probably the most insidious, was women having life changes and changes of politics and retroactively deciding that something consensual in the past, was actually a violation. Thats an extreme example, but less extreme instances of people's perceptual changes about events in their past, are very common and very destructive.
