  1. His naivety is refreshing as it is sad. Hes attempting to reason with someone who already clearly and fully understands what hes saying and is precisely why they're doing it. They believe that this is the moment to seize total control and stack the system in favor of institutionalizing that control forever.

What differs the Republican Party from the Democratic Party, is that Democrats control the party from the top down, with ideological purity standards; where Republicans allow anyone to throw their hat in the ring and let the voters decide if they represent Republicanism, or not. You do realize Trump was a lifelong NY Liberal, right? Democrats enforce ideological purity, Republicans don't.
