  1. The value of a college degree, was that they were rare. Like the value of anything, scarcity is the primary driver. College degrees are already little better than a HS diploma and pretty much a requisite in any professional occupation. 'Free college' will make them completely worthless and employers will simply require high-level, high-priced tradeschooling. But, everyone can puff out their chest and look down their nose upon the 'uneducaded' and that's what matters.
