There's a reason it's call 'near peer'. The F16 is a generation of improvements behind most of what Russia is flying and Ukraine has already lost. But, even if it were reversed, that performance gap itself, isnt large enough to overcome experience and tactics. It takes a substantial performance and capability advantage to count on technologic superiority. If Ukraine had 500 of them, with experienced Viper pilots who have spent years learning to exploit the aircraft's unique capabilities, it might make a real difference. But we know that wont be the case. Furthermore, the F16 is a much more delicate piece of equipment thats much more sensitive to any damage and requires well maintained infrastructure to operate. If Ukraine were delivered 250 planes today, with all necessary support equipment and materiel and were allowed to operate in peace and safety, they are at least a year away from being able to use them to their peak capabilities. And as noted, at peak performance, they're at best an equal to what Russia is flying.
F16s to Ukraine, is an act of desperate and low consideration. NATO's only implemented strategy so far, has been to just give Ukraine a bigger gun, everytime they have a setback. Assuming for argument, legitimately altruistic motivation and intent, at best that's a historically failed strategy. We've tried it countless times and places and everytime, its made things worse for the people we're 'helping'.
