But, regardless, direct combat operations were already nearly ceased by 2008 and we had closed down or turned over to ANA, nearly all COP, by 2010. For the past decade+ NATO have been custodial/advisory forces. I spent nearly a decade from mid Bush, to late Obama, on force development in Iraq and Astan. So tell me all about the 'useless war'.

  7.  @tiredox3788  Yes, by conventions of US criminal law, the Taliban did 9/11. They knowledgeably provided material support to UBL and then hid, protected and continued to support UBL, after he claimed responsibility fir the attack. Taliban are coconspirators.
