Here, I'll briefly explain what happens next, so you can come back later and tell me how its going.
All the positions Ukraine has taken, have been with very little, to no resistance. In a few weeks, the only way to supply those positions, will be through a small number of narrow corridors. Russia has all of those positions and routes under artillery and air cover. Right now, the front is very large, with broad access through open fields. When it starts getting wet, all of that closes off and turns into a funnel. Russia has deep fortifications, that they've been bringing up men and equipment to, for the past month, which is why those forward positions were so lightly defended. When the terrain becomes restrictive and narrows the front by several orders of magnitude, Russia will sit back all winter long, bringing up reinforcement from the rear and mercilessly pounding all those positions and routes with artillery and airstrikes.
