  1. That's because this is only a demonstration of their capability to penetrate. They've only committed a single digit percentage of readily available forces and tightly limited all of their strikes; most of the targets have only been symbolically hit, with one or two weapons. The West is treating Russia like the Taliban, who they treated like a bunch of snaggletooth hillbillies. Putin is trying to get their attention and tell them Russia is to be taken seriously, but they have their heads too far up their asses to notice.

  3. Javelins have been highly effective and I doubt they are defeatable, but are precious and require substantial training. The overwhelming majority of missile shots are NLAW, which again has been highly effective, against older and uprated units with add-on reactive armor kits. However, they've proven ineffective against modern units with integrated countermeasures. Theres several videos showing NLAW shots being defeated. The overwhelming number of attacks are from total shitshow artillery bombardments, destroying residential neighborhoods and small towns, shooting at anything moving on the roads. For example the video from a few days ago that allegedly destroyed 6 tanks and killed a 'top commander', is about 10 seconds of clips, stitched together from about a 20 min battle that blasted the neighborhood around it to toothpicks, to randomly get a tank and a couple of APC, while letting 50+ armor pieces escape and redeploy.

  6.  @lh2883  Thats what intel analysts do. We interpolate a picture, from a sampling of random pieces. What BO does, is give a tabletop review of kinetic actions, with very limited projection. This is why analysis is so important; everyone is simply looking at actions in progress and making a 'what you see, is what you get' assumption about objectives. This is an information war, above all else, isolating the West so that Western media is the only voice being heard. Its important to first understand who the major leaders involved, are. Russia: ex KGB boss; specialist in Western influence and countermeasures to it. The US: career politician; specialist in getting re-elected. Ukraine: comedian; specialist in edgy trash talk. That alone, should give significant insight to how this got out of control. Putin is a real person and so are Russians. What he wants above all else, is respect and for the country he loves, to be taken seriously; not talked down to, blamed, threatened, shoved aside, stepped over and talked about like its not in the room. If you consider that as his primary objective and not conquest of Ukraine, the strategy becomes much clearer and makes far more sense. Hes trying to send a message to NATO, to GTFO of his ass.

  10. Everyone is basing their assessments on the presumption that Putin wants Ukraine. What Putin wants is respect and for Russia to be taken seriously. This is a demonstration of capability; at last report, less than 10% of available forces have been committed to 'invasion'. Biden defacto recognized DPR/LPR by imposing sanctions. When they requested military assistance from Russia, Putin conducted very limited, precision strikes on assets and IPs for Ukrainian military actions against DPR/LPR, modelled on US counterforce operations in Syria. Zelensky's flex about how fast Ukraine can produce nuclear weapons, justified seizure of the Chernobyl complex and deposing of Zelensky, per US intervention in Iraq. This is a 'Can you hear me, now?' message that Ukraine is hands off to NATO, but no one is listening. If Russia were serious about taking Ukraine, this would look a lot different.
