  2. His personal JKD was rooted in boxing mechanics. JKD is a different art for everyone. Its fighting philosophy, not a fighting system. JKD is your own unique style, distilled from everything else you know.

  3. Yes and its interesting that Rogan puts it that way, when he himself has covered why other martial arts seem 'fake', because if you practice them for real, people are going to get injured. Breaking in karate is probably the most popularly misunderstood elements. Its not a display, or demonstration, its a validation that you really can drive that punch or kick you've been practicing. BJJ being relatively safe to go 100% on your first day, is 98% of the reason BJJ knuckleheads are such toolbags. In judo, you spend your first 6 months just learning how to not paralyze each other in training.

Any true self defense experts say the same thing - pick a couple punches and and a kick that feel comfortable and get really good at them and youll win every confrontation.
