I say probably, because there was still a chance of a reasonable settlement, until Zelensky decided is was a good idea to mock and Twitter troll the army on his lawn. All of the propaganda and hardline rhetoric about never negotiating, has painted the Kiev government into a deadly corner. Since then, they've become completely dependent upon the 'goodwill' of the world's two greatest destroyers, whose only expressed strategy for Ukraine, is to keep shoving a knife back into its hand, hoping Russia will blunt its sword hacking them to pieces. If Western support ended today, Russia would be in Kiev in weeks and I think anyone with any objectivity would agree with that analysis. If Ukraine's air defenses fail, same scenario.
