  2. Somewhere around the early 80s or late 70s, the USAF worked on a variant of the M16 for 'offworld' operations. Best of my recollection is that it used a plastic case and low mass aluminum bullet, with ultra low recoil. It was designed first and foremost, to hole suits and thin skinned vehicles. I haven't been able to find any info since the early 90s and wish someone could dig up some.
