For those that don't understand, strategic errors take time to amplify and develop until they're visible. Whats happening now, is the result of poor strategy last year. Ukraine's 'counteroffensive' accomplished almost nothing tactically and burned out the army it took them 4 months to build up, when they still had a prime pool to draw troops from. Before pressing Kherson, if they had instead backed off out of contact and fortified a deep defensive line, befind the front, they would be able to repel the Russian advance, now. Instead, it was in fact Ukraine that desperately needed any win at any cost and spent an army buying it.
In April, negotiation stood to cost them less than Russia has now. But, now their domestic operational capability is practically non-existent. They're reliant upon injection of foreign capabilities. Because they didn't negotiate in April and because they pressed an extremely costly offensive for no strategic advantage last fall, they stand to lose the entire country, because they've depleted their army again, while Russia has doubled, soon to be tripled, their force strength. Right now, Russia wants Donbass and a DMZ between Donbass and Kiev. If the Ukrainian defenses collapse and Russia breaks through to anywhere near the center of the country, they... won't... stop. Ever. Until they have the whole thing.
An option no one has the courage to talk about, is an independent, demilitarized Donbass

YouTube Sucks
I have worked as a technical advisor on about 30 films, from theatrical films, to training/instructional films, specializing in weapons and military tactics. There are a number of safety protocols that were violated, but one in particular, resulted in this disaster. NO ONE but the ordnance crew and the actor requiring it in-scene is authorized to handle firearms, on-set. Baldwin and the AD absolutely knew this rule. What appears to have happened, is the AD left the set, retrieved a gun and brought it onto the set. He then handed off that weapon to Alec Baldwin, who knew without doubt, that it was his responsibility to refuse that weapon and call an immediate halt to all on-set operations, until the armorer has cleared and accounted for all weapons and ammunition. Taking that weapon from the AD, was no different than taking a gun from the coffee girl. He knew it, he ignored it and killed someone to cut a corner. Whatever anyone else did or didn't, was supposed to do, or know, or not, and whomever else shares responsibility, Alec Baldwin was wilfully negligent and someone died. He needs to be held accountable.
