Their offensive was planned on their own propaganda. They expected to blitzkrieg over the trenches in their invincible German tanks, mowing down defenseless, terrified conscripts as they ran for their lives. This is evidenced by their leading an armor assault, with massing tactics. The simply weren't expecting to fight and thought they would just charge in and stuff a bunch of armor into Russia's hole. And it's pretty evident that it is, in fact, because they were getting high on their own supply, as they spent all winter lol'ng about stupid, untrained orcs desperately digging holes all winter, because they knew they lost and now they're scared Ukraine is going to take Russia... and how they were going to just push aside and roll right over Russia's pathetic parking blocks, like a monster truck. Then suddenly its Dude, where's my leg???

Thing is, Im really an analyst (fmr 297th MI-BN) from Desert Storm. DS is what all these narcissistic estimations of US equipment and capability is rooted in. What is not commonly understood is first, we spent 6 months building a million man army on their doorstep. About 40% of the Iraqi armor we destroyed, was 'non-deployable' by our standards. More than half the Iraqi armor force had significant operational issues, such as broken hydraulics and other mechanical/electrical problems. I mean, they shot at M1s and Challengers with canister shot, because they didnt have the right ammo. They ran out of ammo, ran out of fuel, broke down, then got abandoned and banged by Apaches and A10s, before some Bradley crew found it and blew its load on the burned out corpse and then claimed a kill. There were some legit Bradley kills. Like a T72 in a pit that a Bradley came over a berm and caught napping. Gunned it right in the top of the turret at close contact. They got a few long-range TOW kills(including a Challenger and a couple M1s). And thats where the Bradley's legendary status as a 'tank killer' comes from.
Bottom line, Iraq didnt invade Kuwait for resources because they were doing swell. All their men and equipment were hungry and shot up from them and Iran tuning each other up for a decade. Yeah, we definitely did it right, but 30 years on everyone is still taking a fist pumping victory lap and thinking thats just exactly what fighting Russia will be like
