  1. FYI: Male eggplants have far fewer seeds than female eggplants (duh!) and are preferable for cooking. To distinguish between the two, look at the mark on the flower end (bottom). The male will have a circular mark while the female will have more of an oval or football shape mark. Knowledge is power .
