Have you ever read Jung's "Man and his Symbols?"

@nycholaus It requires both focus and detachment at the same time. It's not an easy read by any means, but there's a lot to be gleaned from it.

@nycholaus Preconception, but also specificity of interpretation. This was written almost 60 years ago, and while Jung approved his associates analyses, he died like a week or so after finishing his own essay, so who knows what he might have tweaked, and what might be open to new insights?

@nycholaus No problem mate! I like to think of original thought like Original Sin... something that happened a very, very long time ago to people we cannot possibly have met. One can parse a single word in a larger context until it drives one insane, but even Freud said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." Keep on keeping on, but remember, there's no solving the puzzle unless you choose to crawl into your own navel like Jack Dorsey... only to discover there's nothing there but lint!
