It seems that he searches his brain and comes up with tidbits of information he then tries to weave into a cohesive story, which is a hallmark of dementia. The fact that he cannot comprehend why people find this problematic only reinforces this conclusion.

I think one more televised display of dementia and he's toast, and I think even he knows that. I predict that with the remaining fools all on one stage, that Pinocchiohontas will attempt to excoriate Joe, which will backfire on her hard while also making him look weak. Who really knows?

That being said, there is absolutely no way in Hell that evil, vicious murdering criminal will ever see the inside of the Oval Office. There are simply too many dead bodies with her fingerprints on them, and President Trump would reveal everything if it comes to that.
