@flolow6804 Even in Glantz Myth of the Eastern Front always add sick on soviet casualties. Quick wiki check, they came from different sources. It still apple to orange comparison, and it only count the German. The Romanian lost their entire army there to the point they rage quit.

@markfletcher9584 Im pretty sure Romanian send 1,6 million alone, Hungary 500k, two of them combined already above 2 millions. I don't think they send those soldier to fight Americans. Then add various SSgroupen (French, Ukrainian and Estonian, you can form several divisions for each). The Finn have their own share invading Karelian. And finally add Italian the last because they also fight in Africa and their own homeland. Russia did not enact general conscription like Germany, only limit themselves to general reserve mobilization so they cant have all human resources they can have. Not to mention they have 6 months training time unlike Germany 3 months.

@IndSovU Not for the soviet, the day of 1918 already long past and the post itself are just symbolic since the army already form itself into military caste and almost everyone are communist. And important for the army of illiterate since he most likely the only guy who can read/write.

They way they count their casualties are different. You cant put their number side by side because its apple to orange comparison.

@flolow6804 yea but killed or missing are not list of the dead. he can be running away, captured and latter escape or his paper messed up and he actually transferred somewhere else. Also why on earth you round up 478,741 to 500k for the soviet while rounding down 300-400k to just 300k while ignoring the Hungarian, Romanian, Italian and other SS group? Your number should be lowest estimate of 647,300 to highest estimate of 968,374 permanent loses to the soviet 478,741 which makes the Soviet suffer less than the Germans + other axis.

There is something called overmatching penetration and both BT and T26 tanks only have 6 mm armor which can be penetrated by 8mm mauser round which literally everywhere in German side. The Japanese use riveted armor on their tanks which will work against itself when being shoot with anything.

You forgot to a Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, Finn and other SS groupen into the equation. Soviet number already include, Ukrainian and various central asian soviet states.

@markfletcher9584 Im sure in modern time you cant find ammo for your guns for war if you are not supplied by a nation because single engagement will consume thousand of bullets if you want to be successful. This is why SS division are always part of German unit, using German weapons and the Russian SS even managed to own a jet fighter. I don't think Germans ever pull unit from eastern front to Africa, and I doubt they even pull any of them because lack of transportation. Most of them except the top three are infantry division with low mobility and several of them even destroyed to the last man. Also they are organized in divisions so they already big enough to stay independent.
