@IrishSwede Its a democratic meaning ruled by party representative just like in any democracy system and its a republic instead a monarchy meaning their leader are determined by the party not god just like in any republican system. Its 100% dictionary definition.

@IrishSwede Why open election?? Wheen you say open election then you just tell everyone that you know nothing about the subject you are talking. Why do you think they call them self Democratic Republic? Because in republican system you need to be representative to held power and you need to be party member to vote. yes they can vote but only if they became party member. The other poster is right you mistaken Democratic Republic with plebianism.
