First you must know the size of organization 300-350 German Tanks are Panzer Division size while 800 german tanks are for the entire panzer corps. basically two panzer division for a single panzer corps and then two panzer army form single panzer corps. The number can vary depending state of readyness. Kursk is not the largest tank battle in eastern front. the largest is Brody in 1941, since there are 5 soviet mechanized corps involved and a single panzer army. About 5000 tanks total.

  2. The defeat at Brody is because logistic issue. It just impossible to supply 5 soviet mechanized corps at that time. The soviet undergo several reform on their tank forces by shrinking them to managable level.

  3. Same goes with the soviet. Soviet tank forces varies from time to time. In 1941 the entire soviet tank forces are 8 mechanized corps, with 800 active tanks each. While in 1943 soviet tank forces are organized into tank army which consist 3x189 tanks and supporting elements like self propelled guns.
