  3. Yes, great author - (sometimes lousy translations.) Many classic SciFi predictors could not be mentioned: Theodore Sturgeon, A.E. Van Vogt, Robert Heinlein, Phillip Jose Farmer, Rodger Zelazny, Alfred Bester, Ursula LeGuinn, Frederick Pohl, Ray Bradbury, Robert Silverberg, Niven & Pournelle, Philip K. Dick, David Brin, Poul Anderson, Jack Vance, Olaf Stapleton...and I could just go on for another three paragraphs...

  5. yes, I heard that Einstein's first wife was also responsible for many of his theories too. She didn't want the limelight - in that era, women weren't recognized anyway.

In the past ten years, engineers attended SciFi Conventions with the motives to conceive of new "tech" ideas that were originally invented by authors - who were termed "Imagineers." Engineers weren't so effective at imagining, but were great at logistics. To figure the logistics, you need the idea first.

  8.  @peanutbutter9345  You might want to check out the book that offers "templates" for multi-talented people called: "Refuse to Choose" by Barbara Sher. Also the term "multi-potentialite." Specialization happened around the 1950s - around when generalists (such as Thoughty2) became "out of style."

  14. In brain Science it's called RAS - Reticulated Activating System. It's when you have topics or concerns "on your list" so it helps you notice them instead of them flying under your radar.

  15. One of my fave SciFi authors has been A.E. Van Vogt. Famous story: "The Weapons Shop of Isher." From the 1940s, he always had a "movie-like" writing style that translated well into current screenplay styles, scene-for-scene.

All the engineers were going to the SciFi Conventions to get ideas for future projects - now engineers and product design folks are starving for ideas! Got any half-baked ideas or topics that should be in a SciFi novel - or invented soon?
