Rob, I appreciate how you continue learning and reporting on it for us! Now I learn how what I thought was my idiosyncratic penchant for learning to type my comments has paid off in privacy! Also the fact that where I live, ANY phone use while in the driver's seat is illegal. Other benefits to non-speech recognition: I would type my comments so I'd remember what I said - my memory is in my fingers. I noticed a loss of memory capacity when I started to forget phone numbers because I was no longer punching on keys when I called. I used to know by heart around 300-400 phone numbers in the past - but now, mostly the numbers are in my contact list, not in my memory.

Rob, we need a program that detects and hopefully disables Ring (recorders on porches) as we walk into a house for a visit.

@trtrhr Oh, BCC was the first protection from data harvesting. When you write an email that you want to send to a group, you can put the list in a BCC window that hides it from those who want to harvest your email and send you spam. Now we have encrypted chat on Brax.me to use instead of emailing.

First, you can use "duckduckgo.com" for searches instead of Google. Also for searches: "startpage.com" which uses google heuristics, but without tracking what you're searching. You can go to the maker of the app or program - (their website) and download directly from the programmer of the app. People who make programs and apps market them on Google Play, but that's just one place to get programs and apps. There are others, such as Aurora Store - which creates a fictitious Google user and downloads the phone app for you. F-Droid for instance is an app store that has nothing to do with Google. There are also many reputable download sites.

@robbraxmantech Yes, a contact list topic would be useful. (It's shameful how many people still don't even know about BCC when sending a group of emails!) You could cover backup in case the phone dies or we get a new phone...can we trust where we bought a new phone to not use our contact list during it's transfer? My contact list is duplicated on hard copy, and on my VOIP cordless "home" phone, and in a backup .vcf file.

the only one I recognize that's on my de-Googled phone is: F-Droid - check out the permissions for specific Apps.

@alysa8884 Now that you know a few more terms, ask more questions!
