  2.  @rrpearsall    Conveyance and recognition of facts is the only way to live, not to mention the only way to move forward -- be it as a person, society, country, or the entirety of human civilization on earth. That being said: 1. I'm not sure what to make of that. The only real comment I have is on your last line... IF that's the case, they clearly underestimated him. Pretty much everyone I've seen comment on him as president from people of North America, the UK, and even a few comments from parts of Asia, all wish he was their country's leader -- some going so far as to say he should be made President of the World heh But he has shown, to be at least, as a very down to earth and competent leader. 🤷‍♂️ 2. That's... Not really true. The actual documents of the agreements state no such promise, and any claim of such a promise were caused by a misunderstanding by Gorbachev. However, I can genuinely appreciate a country/its people feeling betrayed/upset, because of what they had always having been told, when things start to happen in ways that seems to defy what they thought couldn't happen. The reality being... there never was that promise, so they feel further anger because now they are also feeling cheated since if that had been properly understood, it may not have been agreed to. (they at least want to hope their government wouldn't have, but we'll never know and speculating and/or acting based on assumptions will only cause major problems; problems that we're currently living through...) 3. In not sure I follow what you're trying to say there. I might be wrong (I'm not well versed on what the NATO missions defense systems are equipped with), but I don't think any of the missile networks have US-made nuclear warhead equipped systems? I think those systems are in central Europe and don't need to be any closer, so Ukraine joining NATO would not be similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Particularly because NATO isn't some US-led or controlled entity, as all parties retain their sovereignty and independence. So the only thing I would see Ukraine gaining in terms of hardware, might be air defense systems being based there. But based on polling data, Fourier Western Bloc country citizens today, >60% see Russia as the threat, and their reasoning behind joining NATO, so it's purely a defensive reasoning, NOT because the country wants to be "well armed" or "the US in a better position" to attack Russia, which is (unsurprisingly) what Putin thinks the reason is. 4. I'm not sure what you're saying, due to a typo. You put: "I wish knew NATO was already" Removing either word significantly changes what's been said... :/ Either way, BioLabs are not where nuclear weapons are designed, or made, or stored. Similarly, there are no US military or defense BioLabs in Ukraine... We don't outsource stuff like that. Even our rocket industry isn't allowed to produce or sell hardware to other countries. (you can look up "ITAR" for more details). All of that stuff is Russian literal "fake news" to try and further justify the invasion, concocted after their "because.... Nazis!!" reasoning had fallen apart. When one excuse fails to convince everyone, they come up with a new one. So yea, no US nukes or Biological weapons in Ukraine. (bio and chemical weapons are almost globally accepted as not permitted for use in war, same with the phosphorus bomb/missiles that Russia has used (short range artillery, and also on the Azov Steel Factory, there's video of both). However, besides all your points, what about Glasnost? All of the free-media groups in Russia have been forced into silence, which started with the Space Industry in late-2020 or early-2021. That out a lot if Russian space-industry reporters and journalists out of work, as only the state-sponsored groups (probably only singular) were able to report anything related to Russia's space related tech or endeavors. But look at the ramifications with the general news, and the only thing that gets reported on by these government-controlled news outlets is only things that fit their narrative, to keep their people thinking what they're doing is only in defense of what the west is doing. Like how they only invaded Ukraine, as a favor to their people, and the world, because they were "stopping neo-Nazis"... Except, if they had re-read the Budapest Memorandum, they agreed NOT to do this sort of thing, as that would be meddling (btw, that's the spelling, not "medalling"; interfering, not awarding medals heh) as was your point with the first part of your Item 1. And on your ending sentiment as a Democrat, I don't watch the news outlets that air that kind of stuff (Fox News, NewsMax are two of the worst), so I'm not tainted or even exposed to their BS and lies :) Watch CNN or MSNBC if you want non-propaganda, no BS news. Because I DIDN'T hate Russia, not until this invasion, where I hate Putin, Russian government, and the Russian military. I hold no grudge against her people, as most of them have genuinely been brainwashed by their own media, thanks to glasnost no longer being adhered to and free speech/reporting resulting in jail time for you. 😔

  4.  @lonerider5933    Please note that I did not mention anything about them not having a BIAS. They are a liberal-leaning channel, yes. They just aren't at the extreme end. As such, you won't see propaganda crap like Fox News, NewsMax, another I can't recall off hand, and Russia's state-controlled outlets play. By which I mean, the content they label as "News" but is clearly alternate-reality in nature, where only the events line up with our reality, but none of what's being said is at all factual. However, yes, you are correct. One should watch the other sides content in order to balance it out and give a middle ground. AlJazerra does seem alright, and appears to be the conservative counterpart of CNN or MSNBC (from what I've seen). However, no, Fox is so extremist that I'm not sure watching CNN & MSNBC would bring you back to the middle! (being completely honest, that isn't meant as a jab). Which I'll also agree with you on WaPost, as I've tried to read their stuff, but can't stomach it... (my complete disgust for Bezos not being factored in) DW is good though. I catch their ear coverage, too. I wish they'd segment their content a little more/better. Seems often times I'm watching their video and 30-50% of it is either quite unrelated to the title, or related but no substance; then it also seems like alot of the time, that comes before the title-related news is discussed. But that's a small gripe simply because I have limited monthly bandwidth (which also means I have to watch in 360potato quality), so shorter videos appeal to me; <10min, 6 being ideal. If I want to get my read on, particularly in terms of space, science, or technology -- but political news as well -- then ArsTechnica is my go-to! 😁
