Here's a question for Veritasium... A question I posed to a friend who was numerically minded (and eventually got a masters in Quantum Mechanics), which she asked her AP Calc teacher, where both considered it "a great question" but really didn't yield any answer... 😅 Does math drive the advancement of science... Or, does science drive the advancement of math?? EDIT: To try and clarify... are we needing to develop new math in order to answer new questions (ie dark energy), or are we able to make material advancements thanks to solving questions in math? (Don't worry The Linguist, this wasn't added due to you lol This came to me just now, whilst making a sandwich 😅)

@the_linguist_ll Your not wrong. That's undoubtedly the case overall; "give and take", both are true. But what the consensus is, overall, is the question... Whether we need to invent new math to solve questions/problems in science, or, whether advancements in science are able to be made (unlocked) thanks to equations that finally are solved... (which I again anticipate you'll answer my profound question with the same three letter word 😏 lol)

@harrietjameson Consensus amongst those in the respective fields, not just an outside individual looking in (which is what I am). Because from that perspective it certainly seems to be the case, yes. But throughout time, specifically prior to this Technological Renaissance we've been in since the early-1900s, has it always looked to be that way? I guess what I'm trying to get at is: Has one always been ahead of the other? Or have they played leap-frog? Was Math during the Isaac Newtons time (1600s) far ahead of Scientific fields, where science was not utilizing the most advanced math of that period? Was nothing new needed for Einstein's General Relativity to work? (I'm a pleb, an admitted idiot when it comes to numbers, so I'll accept it what I'm saying is outright stupid sounding lol)
