  94. ย @MarcosElMalo2ย  I doubt Ukraine is using any munitions that contain shrapnel that can't be medically detected, because those sorts of weapons are considered unlawful ("banned", if you rather) for use against other nations. I say this, because it would severely hamper Ukraine's "War Crimes" trials' efforts towards Russia, if they were also committing them. Zelenskey is clearly a really smart guy and being that they wanted in NATO years ago but were declined, I anticipate he'll play this "By the Book", to ensure they're accepted after the dust settles. That being said, there IS a caveat to all of this "banned weapons" in treaties... Which is, has Russia has already used this type of weapon against Ukraine? In which case, if they have then Ukraine is permitted to utilize them as well (if they want) and cannot be punished for it. _['punished' being a bit of a hollow term unfortunately, as it requires your country to recognize the ICC"s authority, which Ukraine does, but US, Russia, China and various other smaller nations do NOT sooo... They can't be punished **sigh**] That said, if playing by the rules... Russia has thereby unlocked the following weapons for Ukraine to also utilize at their own discretion: - White Phosphorus Incendiary weapons - Chemical weapons [gasses; eg Mustard Gas] - Indiscriminate (Dumb-fire) Cluster Bombs [ie bomblettes without their own targeting capabilities; targeting any area that may still have civilians present] - Flachettes (micro-darts; basically a fin-stabilized carpenter's nail a little short than your pinky finger) I don't know if this is it's own banned item, or if it's lumped in with Cluster Munitions, so I made it a subset just in case. Though I'm certain I've missed at least one other, maybe more... Thankfully (?I guess?) there's no Unlockable Achievement in war for the other war crimes like Pillaging Civilian Property, Razing Civilian Structures, Murdering Civilians, Torturing or Rape (the last two I believe are "full stop", not even of enemy soldiers, but I could be wrong...) ๐Ÿ˜” Stay strong. Stay united. Stay alive. STAY UKRAINIAN! Slava Ukraini, Heroyam Slava! โœŠ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ”ฑ [edit: stupid typo]

  147. ย @zachnar0125ย  Yea people have lost sight of things... Admittedly, _shamefully_, I didn't know anything about Ukr before the invasion*, nevermind said memorandum... So when I did learn of it, damn that made me mad. (* a fact over which I've apologized to folk like Starsky, Denys Davydov, and any Ukrainian I've come across in comments; Starsky in particular has shown me that the sense of humor I have and which defines me as a person, is exactly the same as theirs... we are kindred spirits) SPECIFICALLY that the US and UK signed it and we've done nothing up until now, because you know damn well the ONLY reason we signed it was as an assurance to Ukr-then that we wouldn't let Ruz renege on the agreement... And what did they do? Reneged. And what did we do? Jack shit. ๐Ÿ˜ž Made me ashamed of my country. The words of that agreement, yes, only state that in any such situation where their sovereignty was threatened that we would only go to the UN on their behalf... However, the basis of that agreement, giving up their โ˜ข๏ธ arsenal and the very thing that would've protected them from such a situation, to ME that document was saying _"we'll protect you"_! And we didn't... ESPECIALLY when it was that very country who we were signing it with and simply to keep them in check... was the one doing the invading. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ Anyways, sorry for ranting ๐Ÿฅด I'm sure the automoderation system will smite this comment down anyways (hence not using the full country name; I've found that for me, it's a trigger), but sometimes I get lucky, so maybe this is one of them! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿป edit: spelling error; also, the automoderation system have me a pass!!

  158. Their trolls flag our posts, which then puts us on the automoderation system's shitlist, but officially, we're technically not in timeout ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ I've been dealing with it for about a year now. You have to REALLY tiptoe on eggshells. Use vague references to people and places (I say Pudding Pants, Ruz, and Ukr; don't use their flags), and instead say things like "unalived", etc etc. Further tips: - Copy your Replies before posting, as they won't be visible to copy of they get hidden (they're actually not removed, just publicly invisible) - Exit that comment thread, wait 2 minutes and then go back in; if it's there still, everyone can see it. - If you're making a standalone comment, wait 45 seconds and then click on it; if it gives you an "Error loading comment" it's hidden, otherwise it's visible. IF hidden, edit it, copy the comment, cancel and start a new comment. Make minor edits to it to remove any buzzwords, then try again and repeat the steps. - If you notice COMPLETELY unrelated comments being removed elsewhere around YT (ie places unrelated to politics, news, world events), copy your comment, copy the video link, and send a YT Feedback. Give them the video link (for context), tell them your comment was removed without merit, and paste the comment for them to see. This won't do anything, BUT I've made it a mission to annoy the hell out of them with EVERY SINGLE COMMENT OF MINE THEY REMOVE! Some days they'll get a handful of feedbacks... Others, more. ๐Ÿ˜Ž (I have noticed it's been a LITTLE better for me since I started doing this, but I doubt they're reinstating the comment; I usually made corrections and reposted it anyways, telling them what minor change allowed it to remain visible) Welcome to the club. ๐Ÿป โ™ฅ๏ธ โœŒ๏ธ

  212. So today I am pretty sure I figured out the reason or motivating behind why Putin does what he does.... Simply, it's because he's fucking bored! ๐Ÿ˜” Seriously, think about it. When a dog is bored, often times that's when they become destructive. How about extreme sports people? They didn't start there, they worked up to it... Welp, that's Putin. He was a spy once upon a time, thrilling work I could imagine, even for the ones that were data analysts (not saying he was) since you'd always have your brain firing on all cylinders. Which on top of that, for an in-the-field spy, there'd be adrenaline rushes. Now as time marched on after he became a politician, and the world climate stabilizes, what's there for him to do? For a guy like that I can't imagine running a country is all that fun. He had reached the top. He has the ability to do whatever he wants and likely has done most of it early on.... So when he gets bored? What, you expect him to play video games or read a good book? Fuuuuck no! He's like a dog and wants destruction. He rigs an election (or, fixes it after losing), or starts shit by invading a country, or ways to screw with economy or supply chains, or have his critics killed! Thing is, I don't know if this is better or worse than my initial thinking, where he was terminally ill (but has some years left) and is trying to leave some kind of "legacy" by increasing Russia's borders in a meaningful way.... Meaning he isn't wanting Russia to be in a bad state when he finally kicks the bucket, so he'd be conducting major actions BUT would only be bluffing when it came to using nukes... Because now, if the last 15 years have been boredom-fueled, I'm worried that means he might go nuclear ๐Ÿ˜• Right now, his carelessness seems to be very much like a man who's playing the boardgame RISK. His army, to him, are nothing more than plastic pieces on a map, not humans going to slaughter ๐Ÿ˜– Thoughts?? ๐Ÿ˜’ Am I onto something, or just on something? ๐Ÿคช

  217. โ€‹ย @flouisbaileyย  Unfortunately, the last one we had, allowed way too much to go on, withholding aid over a personal vendetta (aka childish reasons). I'm just glad he wasn't around for this invasion, otherwise Ukraine would've been steamrolled ๐Ÿ˜ž (hell, he probably would've tried to ASSIST in said steamrolling) I'm just glad this administration had enough foresight to sign us up for 8 years of guaranteed aid to Ukraine, just incase Mr. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‘Œ did end up being reelected. But you're not wrong... FAR too little has been done! We should've had troops helping with frontline defense since June of 2022, as it's the least we could do to make up for letting Puddin Pants get away with the various shit he's started over the last two decades... all of which inflated his ego and made him feel like he could do WHATEVER he wanted (because let's face it, we let him). But more specifically, for us pledging our support to help protect their sovereignty in exchange for giving up their nukes (Budapest Memorandum), and then letting all the crap happen over there! Which you know the only reason the US and UK were signers of it was solely as an assurance that the other signer, Russia, would keep to THEIR word... because oh look, they didn't! Still... Even IF most of what's gone on in Ukraine since becoming a sovereign country was related to internal corruption and thereby nothing we could get involved with (as per the Memorandum), Crimea should NEVER have gotten to the point of annexation. ๐Ÿ˜’ Our complacency was, and continues to be, completely inexcusable... ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ (I'm almost positive the automoderation system will strike this comment down, since I've used trigger words AND it's "strongly worded"... but maybe not ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคž)

  232. Small additional point on Cluster Munitions: The big dislike is against DUMB Cluster Munitions! They are fired and dispersed, with zero targeting abilities, so the bomblettes will strike and explode any target in range (note: they typically disperse in-air to widen the impact area). The use of Smart Cluster Munitions, are not frowned upon, stove each bomblette then can target something of its own (example: the "BONUS" artillery round that can drop multiple parachute munitions behind the primary round, each parachute device can track and streer to its target). Another big difference, it's the Smart munitions have self destruct timers, in the same way that all modern infantry landmines are supposed to have self-disposal timed detonators (ahem, Russia.... you've already been caught not using them, after running out of the smart variants!) So the US is free to send cluster munitions, and Ukraine free to use them, SO LONG AS neither their self-disposal, nor their smart targeting features, are tampered with. BUT... And this is the interesting part... The treaties state that (closely paraphrased) "once a banned munition is utilized, it 'unlocks' then for the other side to utilize, without fear of legal repercussions". In other words... Due to Russia having used many of the various types of banned munitions โ€“ chemical (speculated), flechettes (unconfirmed but photographed), white phosphorus (undeniably used), dumb-cluster bombs (early days; undeniable) โ€“ IF Ukraine wanted to, they could. However, Ukraine is playing this war very very smart, doing everything as by-the-book as possible. They DO NOT want to be looked at in the same way we all look at Russia, as that would risk their much-needed support.... a very commendable stance to take, since it only makes their tall that much harder. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿซก ( P.S. - the "shotgun" analogy isn't great, since they use a HIMARS round that is literally just that, containing something like 160,000 tungsten rounds, to shred any light-armor/soft-body targets below its airburst detonation point. ) [source: one of the many banned munitions treaties; I went down a Wiki rabbit hole last year, so I'm not sure which specific one I read, but I think it was the same the detailed flechette rounds being banned (looking at you, AGAIN, Russia! ๐Ÿ˜‘)]_ That being said: Are smart cluster munitions still a problem for civilians, despite these safeguards? Certainly. Other than for the obvious fact they're still explosives, their safeguards undoubtedly have an "acceptable failure rate", causing them to fail to self-dispose, or for their targeting to fail and hit civilian inhabited buildings.

  271. ย @patrickkelly6691ย  Apologies, I didn't mean to give off vibes that Archer did it first, as I was aware that wasn't the case. The entire season that episode was part of, "Archer - 1999" as I mentioned (and 2 other seasons), consisted entirely of episodes that paid homage to pop culture (and cult classic) movies, and also books I think (I'm not a book reader, myself). It also included internal throwbacks/inside jokes to the series, itself, despite being what one could deem "standalone" in both season and episodes (the episodes might even fit the definition of "anthology"). The season's teaser (played at the end of the previous season), and the immediate first moments of the season's first episode, are right out of Alien, as another pop culture example. I won't give away the why on the reasoning for why it, and a few seasons prior, deviated so drastically far from the series' original story and plot, as doing so would be a massive spoiler... However, 1999 and the previous season called Danger Island are some of my fav episodes! Right up there with Archer Vice, which... well, I'm not sure calling that season an homage OR spinoff for Miami Vice would be correct, as it's more the opposite of that show... but the season title certainly is! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Hopefully the show can get itself back into the groove it originally had, as in my opinion, it has kinda sucked since 1999 ended. Still though, that's 10 seasons of pure greatness, which I frequently re-watch! โค๏ธ โ˜บ๏ธ [/ramble]

  315. I've strongly said said the very first nuclear weapon that, that Russia will not go the nuclear route... It would be literal suicide for Putin. It would undoubtedly spur a joint black ops mission by many countries, to go in and take him out! That's assuming the command actually gets carried out! Because I'm a bit torn on whether such command would be, since those subordinates would all know it would lead to Russia's demise, whereas disobeying it would only be the likely demise of that individual... but family and friends would probably survive. A worthy self sacrifice, in my opinion. But yea, Russia's that's have ALWAYS been hollow, in my eyes. Not just for the above reasoning either! But because Putin wants Ukraine, and having irradiated pockets of land does you NO good! Which one might say: "but, their plans for the dirty bombs with the power plant(s)"... To which I say: Russians CLEARLY have no idea just how bad that would be, since they AREN'T TAUGHT ABOUT SUCH INCIDENTS! Chornobyl (Ukrainian spelling), swept under the rug, and we already know Russia has no qualms about erasing history from their textbooks soccer it's happened already during this war... All one had to do is look towards their occupation of Chornobyl at the beginning of the war, and all the STUPID shit they were doing in the red zone. So soldiers and likely even those in command, probably thinks that turning a nuclear power plant into a dirty bomb would only be bad for a couple years, in the surrounding area. The concept of wine blowing irradiated dust into Russia is probably a foreign concept to them! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ™„
