How funny would it be, if part of their noise-cancelation for the rotors, simply utilized the same technology used in higher-end vehicles... AUDIO!
In the cars, the road/engine noise is sampled and the piped into the car through the speakers, but the sound is 180deg out-of-phase. It doesn't eliminate the sound, but it certainly decreases it to an appreciable degree!
So I'm imagining they might have the Blackhawks outfitted with some large flat panel speakers (basically utilizing the body panels themselves), cranking out this out-of-phase audio as it flies and dampening its output.
Of course, it would only impact those who are mostly-beneath the chopper (a sound umbrella, basically), since there's little point in dampening the noise above the aircraft.
Just spitballing, thinking outside the box... 😊
