@TylerHarris-yy7uf Could be wrong, but I'm 95% sure rivets are still the common attachment method on ALL aircraft, they're just recessed, unlike these. My gut tells me it's because you can easily drill out a river to remove a panel and then simply reattach it with new ones once everything is fixed/addressed. If it's welded, you have to cut the weld and now you've irreparably made the panel smaller, thereby needing a replacement. They use threaded fasteners in some areas if it's serviceable stuff within, but YT it doesn't need access why affix it with something that has a mechanical means of loosening? (particularly with the contacting/expansion of them as they get hot whilst flying; not sure if Loctite will hold up forever)

@robdenny514 I was thinking it was more for the same reason that F-15 that set records had done so naked: paint's weight accumulates and if it isn't needed, why apply it? I'm not convinced it'll be that much easier to see though, unless its curved sides catch the sun just right, but that would only be a momentary glint, not a continuous reflection to track. I could be wrong, and I'm fine with that if so. This is just what my deductive reasoning is telling me it's all.

Is that a new piece of inert ordinance on the left, Alex? 😁
