I still have my dad's SKS. I was only like, 10 I think (early 90s), when he got an interest in them. He went threw a number over the years, as he'd get one, play with it, sell/trade it worth buddies, then for some reason want another, so back to Sportsman's Guide lol
A later in life discussion with him about their prices, early on he could get them for $80, but I think those were the inferior surplus from various countries. I might be wrong, but I swear that the Chinese surplus were in the "crap" category...? The one he kept is a...
*checks... researches all the damn stampings... other traits*
Well I'm kinda stumped lmao
Doesn't appear to be Chinese. It's clearly a 55 or 56, but, has a refurbished BUT solid birch stock, not laminated. Yet, it seems that's the only refurbished part, as everything else has no signs, being still in original blued finish, no painting, no X'd out serials, and all numbers matching. Only unmatched part is the rear top return spring cover (where the makers stamp should be), which while blued, has zero stampings outside or inside lol *shrug* (I have an aftermarket Norinco one on it now, for a rifle scope)
Either way, it's accurate and in 👌 perfect condition.
A great hunting rifle that people don't give enough credit to 😃 (even though I use the Mosin 90/43 Sniper [authentic♥️] for deer, cuz the rounds in the SKS magazine rattle while walking)
