  1. I'm onboard with the standardizing of terms for differentiating them. However, I do have to ask: wouldn't this technically be called AK-12 Gen 2 Version 1, with the updated one you mentioned being AK-12 Gen 2 Version 2 Why? Well, "AK-12", for obvious reasons But "Gen 2" because technically there WAS an earlier (pre-2015?) AK-12 that had been fully developed but a combination of military dislike of certain aspects (cost being one of them, but apparently the more M4-like thumb safety/fire-select as well), and failing acceptance trials, it was mostly scraped. They then decided to keep certain aspects about it, such as the 2-shot burst, electronic optics and night vision attachment (which Brandon lacks), floating barrel, and new gas block/port (apparently 'adjustable'). Then "Ver 1" (version) for being the first released variant, where subsequent variants can step up another number, or minor differences can even step by a smaller decimal of one wants (but that's asking for confusion). The question would then become, whether or not including the caliber is necessary? It comes in both 5.45mm or 7.62mm, with only the barrel needing to be swapped. It seems unnecessary to bother indicating that, though, since everything about the gun (apparently) is identical parts. But yea, I don't know how many of the prior "generation" were made, or whether they were provided to any infantry in limited numbers, and if so whether any still survived after it was canceled... If the answer is anything like "less than five exist", I doubt it's worth the trouble to differentiate, and if anything they can be dubbed "prototype". So that's my non-expert 2 cents on the matter! ☺️πŸ₯΄
