Russia has their own satellite positioning system, called GLONASS, GLObal NAvigation Satellite System. As does China, whose us called BeiDou. While the EU's is called Galileo.
Typically, if a lay person uses the term GPS, they're probably using it generically. Whereas in this video, and likely any large news org (like NBC), they're using it to specifically refer to the US system since that's what ours is called.
The question becomes, whether or not the news item you're referring to was using GPS generically or not. But given that all the systems can be used by any person with a system capable of picking up the signals (any modern smartphone), and with satellite tracking it becomes a case of "the more, the merrier" (ie more accurate), so it'd be smart to use even your adversary's systems. That is, because your own system may not have enough satellite to provide coverage all over the globe, or at all times, leaving periodic dead zones.
In other words, jamming even one of the systems could theoretically be advantageous... IF Ukraine had been jamming it before, they may have stopped one they started receiving US hardware. In turn Russia may have noticed that and decided to start jamming it since they figure a slight impedance in their accuracy might be offset by taking fewer losses of heavy armor.
While this is purely speculation on my part, and doesn't really provide any answers, I figured it was still worth sharing π

[Am I onto something here, or just ON something?]
I'm not one to have suspicions that are borderline 'conspiracy theory' level... However, I'm strongly feeling like this is partially legitimate (CoV related) , but partially a secret favor to Russia, as part of Putin's recent pitch about "unforseen consequences" that may occur as a result of The West/US supplying Ukraine with military aid, and that we should stop helping them......
Admittedly, this next part is a much bigger stretch on my part, but I can't help but wonder if all these recent warehouse/industrial fires aren't also part of that same warning ("threat") by him... Or is this sort of thing common and I just don't hear about it until now due to YouTube's "In the News" feed showing me it??
And no, I don't mean anything like "sleeper agents" who have been here laying in wait! lol But certainly could still be spies, or gov't funded loyalists acting on Russia's behalf. π₯΄π€
(and before I get labeled as looney... I'm a D, not an R/QA!)

Β @jupiterlove76Β Actually, with the war, they have had some issues with power, as Ukraine's 6-reactor plant supplied more than just Ukraine.
Eastern Europe has managed to cope with the issue, but, there's still been a knock-on effect to other countries.
I dunno though... Nuclear vs Natural Gas vs Coal... Any way you slice it, there's huge negatives. The latter two are probably the worse option right now, as we're finding ways to utilize the radioactive waste for other things, or convert it into non-radioactive waste (albeit, still toxic).
As they say, it's "six of one, half a dozen of the other".
So until we can get better efficiency with solar β current panels are only ~35% efficient, but IIRC, we've cracked the flaw which limits us to that low efficiency, so better panels are on the horizon (no pun intended) β or until we can build enough wind farms, or decide to start utilizing geothermal tech... we're left with those three evils.
And personally, nuclear seems to be the lesser of said evils at the moment... At least, as long as the idiots running them, perform proper and preventative maintenance!
The "Hey, so this plumbing is 50yrs old, but we've not had issues yet... So.... why bother, right?" kind of mentality isn't that great when you're running a nuclear power facility... πππ€¦ββοΈ

Β @MiClLCΒ We get it guy....anytime someone mentions the "G" word doesn't actually exist, you bible thumpers always have to announce how your mass delusion seemingly knows everything and this is all going to plan, because innocent people dying is acceptable when they're pagan/agnostic/athiest.
My entire family and extended family are god fearing people of some denomination, and I attended catholic school Pre-K through 8th grade. Thankfully, my school taught legitimate science and 6th grade is when I saw the light: every offshoot of Christianity is just hogwash.
The bible may be an OK "how-to" guide to be a good person, so long as you are able to see the "acts of god" for what they are... A means for people to either justify horrible actions committed against other humans, or, as justification for ignoring the horrible things others were doing, or, that they are just in considering themselves a 'good person' because they've prayed for those who atrocities are being committed against as though it has any meaningful impact on reality - particularly if what you've said is never even seen by those people in question (ie, can't even serve the purpose of emotional support)
Myself, I'm agnostic, as I'm not closed off to the possibility that there could be a ""higher power"", even such an absurdity like we are just individual nodes making up a much larger simulation...
However, even if there is one or more higher beings capable of manipulating our existence, the scientist in me feels that they WOULDN'T because either: their interaction would taint the results of their experiment... or... we're little more than a form of entertainment (interactive book, a game, or movie), in which case, highly unlikely your "prayers" would even fit into their narrative.
===
And no, I'm not salty because I had any bad or traumatic experience while attending catholic school. Nay, it's due to the fact that the comments on the videos documenting this conflict fall into basically 4 categories:
- words offering emotional support and sympathy
- offers of prayers and blessings, or 'sympathy' because it's god's will and he will look out for you
- misinformation spreaders (participants coming from both sides, "east" and "west")
- speculators and analysts who offer thoughts and additional info, based on other news sources (to combat the misinformed and the misinfo-spreaders)
It's the second category that has prompted this 'salt'. If you want to offer words of encouragement or emotional support, I have no issue with "thoughts and prayers", "praying for your safety/this being over", as that is evidently from *you*. It's bringing god into it that, to me (based on reading so many), carries with it this heavy sense that you're offering real assistance to the cause and that everything will be A-Ok because god is on the scene!
If the last 5 weeks of everyone around the world invoking his name hasn't instantly stopped things, why will continuing to do so make any impact?
"But things have been getting better! Ukraine has been winning!" Yea? Yet it is still is going on each day, isn't it... So what about that, to you, portrays him (or her!) as being a kind and loving deity?? (I don't even have to bring up the un-related starvation in the world, or the far worse unspeakable acts committed under his watch!)
I don't have an issue with people getting together with like minded individuals to attend meetings to convey thoughts and teach to be kind to each other (see: attending church), I just ask for people to finally wake up and smell the folgers, as being overly devout in a religion does nothing but act as blinders, preventing people from seeing the whole picture, simply because so much that goes on just doesn't fit within the narrative of <insert-religion>. If your god(s) were as loving and forgiving as you claim, then it seems that those same god(s) would embrace humans letting go of these ancient coping mechanism we invented to explain the then-unexplainable things in life their religions! Just sayin'... β€οΈ

Β @IAMGiftbearerΒ Thanks for the reply!
1, 2) I completely forgot about Interpol heh Though, after looking just now, I have a feeling they won't give a hoot, and won't go in to arrest Putin, his cronies, or any soldiers for war crimes π:
"... INTERPOL has issued a statement on its position.
In declining to suspend Russia as a member country, INTERPOL
invoked Article 3 of its Constitution, which prohibits INTERPOL's
involvement in political matters. Mar 22, 2022"
So that's a bit disheartening... Pretty sure that war, and anything related to it (eg soldier's actions), squarely fall under the definition of "political". Yay π
3, 4, 5) That's my point though, since any NATO involvement will only escalate matters further, thereby undoubtedly prompting an unhinged Putin to indeed start using nukes (tactical, not intercontinental)
I don't know if Russia, currently, is feeling like a Hydra, or a one headed monster... Wherein, if someone were to decide to just drop a bomb (conventional; MoAB) wherever Putin may be, if the remaining command structure would stand down, or decide to retaliate. As I feel like that's a better option than trying to send in a convert group. Anyone in the vicinity of that nut can pretty much be considered complicit/an accomplice, so they're shouldn't be much or any "collateral damage" from a bombing run... π€·ββοΈ
But yea, that's where I'm coming from, as it seems like in the end, he's still going to end up getting away with all of this ππ«
As for the Ruskie Trolls in this thread, all I have to say is:
Slava Ukraini! βπΊπ¦π»
