Despite knowing they use their roads for runways, I just realized... They must have AMAZING roads over there, to be able to withstand jet exhaust! 😳

@-NiEr Granted, but my understanding is that many many runways during even the early days of her powered aircraft, they literally tore up the asphalt during takeoff, both on airstrips and aircraft carriers (not sure what early carrier decks were made from, so if metal, even crazier). Hell, I've seen clips of turbo fan engines on commercial airliners doing the same! In my mind, the real issue would be cracks from water freezing, giving the thrust the smallest spot to burrow under and dig out chunks. Namely when it rotatez during liftoff. (which isn't even factoring in the heat generated, even if it is for a brief moment)
