I wonder: Could a ruptured and slowly leaking gas tank (the Krypton) cause it to be more visible due to the gas altering (refraction/scattering) the light passing through it, or, that the Krypton being (presumably) compressed was cooling down the atmosphere around it and that was causing the light shift (crystallizing micro amounts of moisture still present?)? Mayhaps even that the gas was being slightly excited, just enough to be contrasting against the usual sky color...? I don't imagine these carry all that much in the way of 'fuel' to begin with, but at the same time, their tanks would be at their absolute fullest. Just as a data point for anyone comparing against other small sats making reentry during daytime.
