  1. Stargate Universe did SORT OF that aero maneuver mentioned. In this case though, they needed the gravity assist to change their trajectory, but that wasn't going to be enough so they stopped into the planet's atmosphere to litho-brake and slow down. I'm still sour about that series being canceled... Had so much potential, but sadly the first season started off really slow and understandably lost too many viewers. (my friend was one, but I later convinced her to give it another chance and she agreed that it had gotten great after the first half of season one)
