  12.  @MartialArtsCat101  Your mistaken - faith does inform character (at least to an extent) and Christians dont (always) twist Christianity to fit their political values - you may be coming from too cynical a POV to believe this but many Christians are capable of examining whether their political values are compatible with Christianity and changing them if they're not. A long time ago it was the Emporer Constantine who first put this into practice in a sweeping way when he banned Gladitoral games (basically human sacrifice of a sort) and death by torture as a spectacle - both decisions informed by his new found Christian values and not at all popular in his political circles and less than useless as political moves - just one early example of Christian values affecting politics which altered the course of society and affects us for the better to this day. Historically this questioning of whether politics of the day represent Christianity has actually been a source of conflict between the Church and individual christian figures and Goverment. So society may sometimes warp christianity to support its prevalant political values but individual Christians do usually not in such an overt and transparent way as this Brenda chick does - its as tho she has just written a list of woke values and thought - "how can I claim Christianity supports this and not think about whether it actually does or not". Your wrong about the Abrahamic religions too - you see Christianity doesnt stop at the end of the Bible - it goes on and on and many figures have added to it far after the fact in ways that have influenced society for the better and continue to do so to this day (see Thomas Aquinas). But in order to do so you actually have to have some knowledge and respect for what your talking about which Brenda doesnt. The reality of the Old Testament is that it has always been secondary to the New in the eyes of Christians and a collection or Moral and other lessons or simply the record of the times and important figures. It is the New Testament and the often imperfect and fallible musings or later prominent Christians which make up the spiritual basis of Christianities heart.

  14.  @MartialArtsCat101  Im not disagreeing that people can use their faith to justify opinions and decisions that are purely political, but I find it strange you dont believe that - either for good or bad (or neither) the opposite can likewise occur. That personal experience and exposure to religion can influence how you interpret politics. If as you say spirituality is an oppurtunity for personal growth then it would stand to reason that if that personal growth was for the better - surely it could and would influence both political opinion and action? Again either for good or bad or simply difference? Perhaps you see politcal manipulation and those who have or seek the power to use it as inherently bad or amoral and so its hard to believe that such action can be inspired by personal faith and the desire to do good (note - not selflessly but good nonetheless) that can flow from it? (of course whether its actually for good is another thing but this definetly exists) I gave an ancient example of Constantine banning Gladitorial games above as an example of religion influencing politics for the better - this wasnt a popular decision at the time and was seen as de-stabilizing at a time when stability was needed. It was a greater risk politcally to ban the games than to do nothing and yet he did it anyway - what other explanation can there be other than religious belief influencing political thought which led to influencing political action? There are many examples of similar thru history.
