@ianmcknight6482 The first part is what I referred to in my comment. There is nothing cool about the 2nd part though. People are rather like chimpanzees with no capacity of being or playing god. All the effort of people trying to be more special than everyone else only leads to wasting their lives with pursuing something they are not made for. Also this way everyone needs to develop its own value system. The only effect this has is, that people can't trust each other anymore. Christianity is most of all a shared value system that is wisdom distilled over thousands of years with the intent to guide everyone how to approach life to have a happy and fulfilling life. Throwing that out leads to everyone doing all this work again over and over and completely wasting their lives.

Science was forced into prostitution and quality went down accordingly. This makes it easy to deningrate science because it resulted in a flood of useless nonsense sold as science.

@dngerouds This is why Nietzsche said "God is dead and we killed him" over 140y ago.

@ProfessorDaveExplains Seems you misunderstood my comment. The push in science to optimize for number of publications led to a flood of low quality output. I'm all for science as a methodology to find truth and knowledge, but the vast majority of what "science" produces is pure shit and makes it easy for people to denigrate and ignore science. Arguing with "science says" lost its meaning. Finding good science is as hard as finding good journalism. This completely overwhelms the majority of people and makes them vulnerable to simple answers. The point of my comment was, to argue that ruining science this way was intentional.

@ianmcknight6482 It's too much to comment on everything. If you look back at why most wars were fought, it's because of different value systems. The borders of countries are demarcation lines that indicate that there is a specific value system in place. Countries are allies because their value systems are compatible. They trade with each other and make it easy to travel. Incompatible countries are at war and try to force the others to accept their value system as superior. This is why many hate immigrants, because they can't be sure what value system they adhere to. You can of course build your own, but don't expect to get far if others find out what you are up to. I don't deny that everyone can fine tune it a bit differently, but it's all within a shared framework. If you think you can build your own system from scratch, then it's only out of ignorance. Christianity stagnated for a reason. They figured everything out. Sure there is progress in science that allows us to see the world differently and we would use different words now to tell the stories the Bible tries to tell. The Bible is mostly about our inner world and there not much has changed. That the Bible is not reworded to better fit our modern world is, because it's way too difficult. The writing task itself and even more so to make a lot of people agree on how to formulate it.
