  3. It might just be that they are notably more susceptible to the compassion argument. Many men and women on the left AND right are quite susceptible to authoritarianism.

  7. Virtue signaling isn't limited to elitists or progressives. Just check how important it is for conservatives to show up at church every sunday and for politicians to mention that they are Christians.

  11. 9:10 that "highly liberal" is more prone to authoritarianism than conservatives sounds intentionally misleading. They should compare "highly liberal" with "far right". Perhaps it makes less difference in the US than in Europe but finding meaningless statistics and using them to support your agenda is just propaganda.

  12. 6:21 why does Dr. Peterson first say that people with "low verbal intelligence" are more susceptible and then he generalizes it to intelligence and then to IQ. They might be related, but they are not equivalent. I find it at least sloppy if not manipulative. It's his core competence after all. I find this also not a too convincing argument because a lot of extremely high IQ people failed for that ideology. In my perception it's even that hiqh IQ people in particular are susceptible.

  16. @dustythurman5426  I think you are right in all points. I'm a software developer and saw myself on the left most of my life. It's just the gender stuff and it's fallout that threw me off so much that I could puke almost without interruption since. I think intelligent people are overconfident in their ability to set up complex systems and their ability to understand people's motivations, and underestimate their ability and willingness to overlook contradictions and to be and do evil.

  18. I think this is only a side effect. We know that fossil fuel is limited and it was essential to force development of alternatives. That the conservatives made themselves the guards of the fossil easy money business at the expense of future generations, left alternatives wide open to the "progressives". Progressive by itself isn't bad. One of the bad things is that it was taken over by the Woke.

  19. Also the Catholic church failed people in many ways. It was authoritarian and hostile to science. When they lost that power they lost the power to force people to submit to their teachings and they were lost in finding ways to teach so that reasonable people could accept it and join voluntarily. Communism was a welcome idea to fill the vacuum. The church still hasn't made any progress since.
