Building something that people love and creates thousands of jobs needs to be punished? People like Bernie Sanders created the rules for big corporations and many others to not pay much taxes. I'm sure Bernie enjoys the stock price hikes as much as all his colleagues.

The bombs secure the US's way of life. The US couldn't make that much money if it weren't the strongest superpower. Also if there wasn't that much money in "normal" business, the US would become an oligarchy. It is already close. People think a revolution would make the US better, but it would only make it worse and only the poor will pay.

@demo-crazy-2022 Throwing money at homelessness doesn't solve any problem. It only causes higher inflation, then you are back where you started. Taking money away from industry just kills jobs. So it's a net negative. I don't say military is the only or the best industry to ensure employment, just that your suggestions are so simplistic that they at best won't have any effect and at worst will harm the country. Keeping up with tiny economies like Russia and even with bigger ones like China shouldn't be a problem for a country like the US. Military spending is usually the best cause for technical innovation. This is what keeps the US ahead of everyone else. I'm sure there is an unbelievable amount of corruption and incompetence involved (like everywhere where people are involved). So there definitely is room for improvement on every step. It's just that "simple solutions" are just simple but almost never solutions.

@demo-crazy-2022 Healthcare is the same as homelessness. Throw money at it and all you get is higher prices. Again I'm not saying there is nothing to fix, but there are no easy solutions. The US spends so much money because it wants to be able to fend off the next 10 strongest countries even if they unite against the US. Don't underestimate the financial benefit the US reaps from its military strength.
