All she does is managing the shutdown of the company

Most announcements are pure fraud. I still think there will be real progress, but hard to estimate how much. At least it's now considered big business and lost of money flowing into research.
6
@andr333y To press their ICE cars into small clumps?
6
That's Harakiri with run-up. The incompetence of this management is just mindblowing. The outlook is really bleak for Europe's economy if the leading companies stumble around on bright daylight like it was pitch dark.

What are the unions good for then? Probably the same as here, to ensure their own prosperity on the expense of the workers.
3
We know this since 10 years but they claimed to know better.
2
I guess the customers have a say in it. I used to drive VW, but they treated me so badly, they won't sell anything to me ever again, and then they were caught cheating everyone. Toyota seems to have lost it as well. Super bureaucratic, hanging on to hydrogen and hybrid. They are dying dinosaurs with a few big words, similar to GM and Ford. They are pathetic.
2
Hydrogen has only one purpose - so they can keep selling fossil gas because there is no other feasible way to produce enough hydrogen. That hydrogen from fossil gas is much worse for the atmosphere than just burning the gas doesn't matter to these greedy bastards.

and dozens of companies in China
2
@scottquinn498 They are at least working at it. Toyota is only talking.
2
I love the look and I prefer station wagon, but Europeans mostly buy SUVs. Curious how this will turn nout
2
They should stop whining and start doing better🤦♂️
2
Talking seems to be the only thing lagacy car makers are doing anymore
2
They just have no clue how to do that. Not a single person in those companies is able to do startup-like thinking. I'm sure they have hundreds of meetings about who should do what to get started.
2
Looks like a new Lancia Delta Integrale to me

There are no convincing arguments for Hydrogen. These people can't be THAT stupid. The only thing I can imagine is, that they get bankrupt when they don't get any return for the Hydrogen investments of the last 30 years. They are so doomed 🤯
1
The only reason I can think of for them to think they can get away with this is, they know they won't be around to take the hit from disgruntled customers.
1
@brownro214 that's not acceptable business practice. They sign a contract and then later when the customer expects it to be fulfilled, act as if it never happened and exploit the situation of the customer they created. Business only works with some minimum amount of trust. They know they are going out of business, this is why they don't care.
1
@joeking433 I don't care how they look until the dealer has one available to test drive and the care offers enough to justify the price. Nicola cars look nice as well 🙄
1
@joeking433 Toyota keeps sending signals that they still hope EVs will vanish quietly. To me this sounds like a death wish - rather we die before we become an EV company. Perhaps just an internal struggle. Still a heavy luggage to carry in times where you need to move fast. Tesla and Chinese EV makers don't have that drag.
1
@joeking433 You are obviously a paid Toyota or Fossil Fuel influencer 🤦♂️
1
Overtake Nicola perhaps 🙄. I guess she means they can be in 2025 where Tesla is now, but I'd consider this a very ambitious goal already. They haven't demonstrated much innovation the recent decades except perhaps in acquiring government subsidies 🥱
1
Is this even worth spreading?
1
Unions are the type of parasite that kills the host - the dumbest kind.
1
Everyone is claiming, Tesla is doing. Man I hate those bigmouth talkers 🤮
1
DoA
1
How are they even able to afford a Tesla?
1
Does this mean their solid state battery was vaporware? Toyota thinks just because we have enough oil for now it suddenly became infinite?
1
AI predicting something only means it got fed with a lot of data biased in that direction (for whatever reasons)
1
That's what causes companies like the traditional car makers to only make decisions for the short term. That Musk can play the long game demonstrates how powerful his position is. If he does it right the others will be dust soon, as if they never existed.
1
No surprise they don't want to build EVs when they are on their limits with old tech already.
1
@stevenjones916 It is proven tech for Tesla who build that stuff for 15 years. That it's new for Toyota is, because they refused to look at the signs.
1
These problems can't be solved with money. VW is not going to make it
1
especially appealing when cars monitor your every move and report to the mothership 😬
1
The most likely reason for the delay is that the demand of existing models is already much higher than production capacity
1
Tesla can't keep up with demand, how would anyone cause pressure in such a situation. Ford is struggling with the one model they have.
1
That's why Trump is so dangerous. He will do anything that benefits him and doesn't care about anything or anyone else.
1
Pretty hard to ignore Ukraine here in Europe 😒
1
A car designed by a committee. Yawn 💤
1
They just want a quick death
1
I think China is achieving much of this at the expense of it's future and it will haunt them eventually. Western countries need the kick into the balls to wake up start focusing again. In the ende everyone is coocking with water and the west will survive Chinese competition like they did Japanese competition a few decades prior.
1
There could be replacement batteries for older cars once production capacity exceeds demand for new EVs
1
It's less important if they are ahead or behind, what counts is velocity. As long as competitors are behind on that, they are losing. Talking won't them help gain traction.
1
Dying it is then 🤦♂️
1
I find it a positive surprise they are doing anything on their own
