When you get a child while having a Google account it's actually theirs. You just pay for the upbringing😉

That's Googles main occupation since years. Buying good products, "forcing" them onto users and then killing them at various speeds.

I wonder why people are doing that. First, giving such companies so mach power is a bad idea in general. Amazon never acts like it even wants to appear especially trustworthy. Companies, especially bigger ones, just aren't trustworthy at all anyway. So people delegating such sensible stuff to Amazon, Google, Apple, ... is just setting oneself up for troubles. It's bad enough the mobile phone gives them so much power, and it's really hard to opt out of that, but there is no reason to add more without a hard necessity.

T-Mobile tried this with me (in Austria). They stopped the service 2 days after I cancelled by email but were still harassing me until four months later with invoices, reminders and phone calls about the weeks where they didn't even provide any services anymore, claiming I didn't cancel correctly. Luckily, the first thing I did after the email was to cancel the debit order so they couldn't withdraw any more money. After about 4 months they went silent. In the end I saved money because I expected a month's notice period, but because they disabled already 2 days later I refused to pay any more.

I guess Canon is fighting bankruptcy. I wouldn't buy anything from them anymore.

Should be easy enough to cancel the subscription

Monitor on top of the computer case is a really bad idea. It's bad for the eyes and bad for the neck. No idea why anyone could want that. Sounds like a late April's fools day video.

At least they shouldn't be bigger than AMD if they deliver less value for the buck

These companies only want to be on par with piracy on criminal energy. Companies will do anything to fuck you over. This is why I never even considered streaming. I feel bad enough that I have all my ebooks on Amazon.

I'm still not over my 2017 MacBook where keyboard and touchpad got defect even though I never used it. I used the MacBook exclusively with an external mouse, keyboard and monitor. When I bought a new computer I tried to use the MacBook as a mobile device on the couch and discovered it was unusable. It didn't matter much anyway, because it doesn't install the latest OS version and this reason more and more apps from the AppStore can't be installed. It's a quite expensive bulb of waste.

@bryede I had the same experience with a Canon ink printer a few years ago. It's only collecting dust anyway.

@Qballl You can do that. They just won't sell you another one. Perhaps there is also stuff in the contract. If you sign that, they can sue you if you violate it.
1
@craigwilson777 They let you, but they will refuse doing any more business with you which is their right.

@nighthawk1999 Depends on what the contract contains you signed for the deal

He's ahead of his time. Soon everything will be so expensive that his product becomes competitive again or it's a product nobody really needs anyway.Tariffs surely will lead to people only buying what they actualy need, not what they want. That might be a big win for the environment.

That's why open source exists. I wouldn't have a problem paying for Windows and other commercial stuff if the experience weren't that horrible.

My suspicion is this are feeble attempts to find ways to make money when car ownership won't exist anymore - when robotaxis take over.

They have trolls working for them getting people blocked who mention this in social media. After 40 years with Intel CPUs, they suddenly stopped existing in my world.
