@Paul-uy1ru We are not even close. All AI does is to put words characters one after another depending on statistics derived from analyzing code written by humans. That's quite primitive. While I had to work with many developers who were even worse than what AI produces, AI can't really develop software. With the huge models they build, they compensate for the lack of reasoning skills which is the essential part.

Why would manual work more complicated that remote work on a computer? AI can't replace a single job where some constructive work happens. Most in danger are probably call center jobs where people read from a script. There are hardly any jobs where AI can't provide useful assistance though. AI can help people work more efficiently and this will lead to some people losing their jobs.

@Paul-uy1ru I believe we will someday get there but I think what we have now isn't it. Losing my job will then be the least of my concerns.

@SRR34 Collecting data without understanding is just not enough and also repeating what already exists somewhere will not be enough. Once AI will be able to do proper reasoning, it will be able to learn how to produce great code even from bad code.
