Because the legal system in the country is too lenient to violent people. In the US, owning a firearm seems to be more important, than watching children play outside without having to worry about stray bullets

Imagine if nobody was allowed to own firearm, as it is in other highly developed countries. The US would've been as safe as the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, etc. Children could walk and play outside without worrying about stray bullets and armed thugs

William Braddell Yes, it's like Switzerland. Switzerland's crime rate was also similar to the US' in the 90s, before the government heavily regulated the use of firearms. Yet it's still currently touted as a firearm-loving country with one of the highest rates of firearm ownership in the world

@luism8612 People cling to a violent culture from hundreds of years ago and the country has become infested with firearms because of it, so any drastic control measure to solve the problems would most likely cause a civil war
