  7. I would bet my life that this practice was encouraged by the church without saying it out loud. Government was involved. The politicians that are crying crocodile tears are related to the people who were in power those days. Family dynasties in politics in Ireland go hand in glove with the church because families members of politicians were also priest and Nuns that's how deep it goes. The elite then had family in every position that ran the country, government, civil service, hospitals, nursing homes, police, army , schools, prisons, church, these were all filled with family and friends. This is why this has gone on since the foundation of the state. Just look at some of the name's who are in government now and who their families are. Nothing new under the sun. ☘️
