+PoliticisedPilot But that is not happening now, the number of days lost to strikes is nowhere near what it was in the 80s, the average union worker goes on strike for one day in every 15 years, and we have the weakest union laws in europe. There is no danger of us going back to the 1970s. And as for the tube strikes, you do realize that this bill would not change anything with regards to that. The tube drivers are very well organised, so they have been able to avoid losing the power that the rest of the unions lost in the 80s, and all their strike ballots pass these new rules. A lot of the time Unions can be frustrating, but they play a big part in bringing wages up and improving quality of life for there members. It is no mistake that income inequality has rocketed since they lost most of their power. The government should really be asking how it can strengthen them, without creating a situation where the number of strikes begin to weaken the country.
