interesting interview. The Greens have a lot of good points to make, but there biggest problem does seem to be, as Owen points out, that they are viewed as a hippie, middle class party despite the fact that they are the most socialist party in parliament right now. Lucas points out that some of the best Green results took place in the poorest cities of the UK, but this was because that there support in these areas are driven by large concentrations of students, who are the demographic that the Greens are most popular with. They have the potential to win as much support as Ukip have, given that there is certainly some appetite for a socialist alternative in England. But to do that they need to boost there support amongst the working class. Best way of doing that would be to win a few defections from those on the Labour left, and to rebrand themselves so that people associate them with other left wing ideas like tackling inequality. Some system of PR would help too.
