  2.  @ptbot3294  Closing the border has the effect of not allowing ALL movement over the border. This puts tremendous political and monitary pressure on Mexico to stop aiding and assisting others from violating our borders. Yes, a few (relative) people will sneak across, but the vast majority of people and millions in trade goods will cease to enter. It's a punitive action at a governmental level designed to effect change in policy and practice. If it wasnt an effective strategy, the Leftists and Mexico wouldn't be bitching up a storm about it.
