  1. Time and again, I hear the same phrase: "thanks to technological progression'. That march of technology changes everything. Ships become 'best in class', and then fall into obsolescence, sometimes in a matter of a decade. So it struck me that this might be a good topic. The many technologies that drove this evolution. The progression of: refining, metallurgy, chemical-engineering, optics, communications, electronics. With a primary focus on the technologies themselves....how (and why) industry arrived at such things. A secondary focus on how they were eventually applied to fighting ships.
