  2.  @maxkennedy8075  I think it had more to do with the five main turrets. The blast from those guns will liquefy anyone standing near their barrels when they go BOOM. Their design left the USN with a lot less deck space to satisfy their penchant for 'guns, guns and more guns'. So, with less deck space, they decided to mezzanine the AAA guns.
