@darvinmilevic7418 having Covid within 6 months doesn't form a part of exception. And the two independent doctors may have certified anything but that doesn't count because a civilized democracy stands up against injustice and wrong things and that's what was done. The outrage against him is s sign of healthy , vibrant and enlightened democracy they Australia is.

Being religious is perfectly ok. My country India , with 1.4 billion is 99.99% religious. However we don't insert religion in science unlike most of America , the Bible thumpers. We don't replace science with religion. We unanimously supported strict lockdown , social distancing and constant hand washing and today we have the least cases per capita in the world with one of the least mortality rate. We don't follow leader who says ,drink disinfectants.

@DeLoxley86 that's wrong. The 5 people who were exempted had "genuine medical conditions" that allowed them being unvaccinated. Novac had no such medical conditions and exemptions. 2 medical panelists may have okeyed him , but to err is human. It's better that the mistake was rectified by the border oficial by asking for exemption documents.

What is more important is that he is a science and vaccine denier and had no justified medical response to justify his exemptions. Science doesn't work on "personal choice". And it's good yhAt the federal government noticed that he had no genuine medical exemptions and rejected him. That's what happens in a democracy. There are various levels of checks and balances so that if one goofs up , the higher level can rectify the mistake that they did. Science denial has its own costs.

In fact correlating the two proves the point that vaccine denial is stupid , superstitious , irrational , threatening and dangerous to others just like 1936 Germany thay was dangerous to others.

I am from India and our Prime minister is doing quite well to curb covid19 If we had expanding cases like US, we would have dismantled him from his position for failed governance. How can Americans be so dumb ? 22,000 cases and no accountability from the President..

@villamara9632 the restrictions are not unreasonable. Those who understand and respect science , wont say that. Science is not based on race or community. That's why Covid mandates are for ALL and Novac Djokovic is not an exemption. just because he is a privileged white male tennis champion. Science doesn't go on perception. Just because "he appears aesthetically fit" doesn't mean he is exempt from vaccination. He can still be the carrier and transmitter of infection.

@bigfellamike1913 Djokovic is a superstitious christian science denier. I never said vaccines reduce case load. They induce secondary immunity in the form of antibodies , reduce hospitalizations and severe illness. The effectiveness ranges between 50-75% at least. Vaccination should be encouraged. If a celebrity like him is rejecting vaccination , it sends bad message and signal to the society and so he should be named and shamed . Besides there is weak evidence to suggest that increased antibodies can also lead to reduced transmission because of improved health of the contact and weak infectious nuclei. In the era of pandemic , even an act having theoretical possibility and weak evidence should be encouraged because something is always better than nothing.

@sherrimercer7288 Iowa was NEVER a Mississippi or Alabama. It is only 70-75% Republican. In elections , we cannot be sure of any result if it leans less than 90% towards one party or the other. Like DC or New York for Democrats and Alabama for republicans. 75% support is but strong but no where firm and permanent.
