I was going to say the same thing but Trentryan27 beat me to it. Saw a demonstration of this kind of preventative maintenance to an older truck several years back here on the tubes on UXWBill's channel where his brother had a mid 90's Chevy/GMC truck affectionately known as the big brown piece of junk and his brother would rinse out the wheel wells periodically every winter as they live south of Chicago in a small town, but in Illinois still and deal with the Midwest rust and his truck by the time of that video was probably 15 years old and barely any rust showed on the bed, let alone the body and frame as they take it to a DIY car wash and spray the whole entire bottom of the truck several times during the winter months. The brother did eventually replace the brown truck with a later green one, again, another GM product.
