A UK covert op to bend navigation beacons caused German bombs to drop by accident on Dublin, and the idea died. That was an act of war vs the Republic. By 1945 this was known to the Irish. Even if not, as a neutral country it followed the standard protocol of condolence on death . And as a deeply Catholic country it could not indulge in celebrating a suicide. So Russia would be wrong to think that it was in any way an insult or spit in the face to 27 million dead Russians, and more than official formal condolences on the death of Mao or Stalin would be.

  6. 11:00 Medvedev is more than a proxy for Putin, he's a successor. Policy won't change. I think he was clear that he knows that Zelenskyy is forced to keep losing civilians because the Nazis will kill him. And should have resigned rather than keep begging for arms. Remember Medvedev was in charge when Georgia happened. He may be more behind the Paul Manafort era than Putin. That said, it was a successful strategy in terms of dismaying the West to a point of panic and insanity. It is fair payback for the 1990s neocon theft.
