  1. The Moskva sunk while being towed, despite it seeming to have hull integrity when they decided to tow it. Now, towing creates different stresses on a hull than ordinary drive - it's being pulled not pushed - so it's possible they just didnt understand the damage. But it's either that or naval combat divers planted a number of charges including some that started the fire near ammo, and more on the hull below the waterline that weren't detected. Blowing the ship hull while being towed can also drag the tugs/towing ship down and possibly block a strategic point like the Kerch narrows. US intel said the missile claim was unverifiable since the satellites saw a fire but no explosion in port. The US could have used various means to attack a ship at sea, but if they got caught ...well they didn't kill sailors. Maybe their plan is to take out equipment using NATO guys but avoid killing Russian troops?

  2. Well then Ukraine can cut Europe off. That will look good. Putin expects to divide Europe and break it up. He has a double digit chance of achieving that. Russia actually stating that private property is sanctified is a masterstroke. On the chessboard, that play to European commercial and political narrow interests is a bishop. Not a rook like the India and Arab relationships nor a Queen like China. But a very useful piece. His other bishop is the various currency deals and ability to expose laundering. The knights? Well... you suggest. :)
