  4. He is strictly military Intel and it wasn't him that failed in his job because he reported the buildup. The likelihood of invasion depends on political factors so it's another Dept job to assess that. So you are right to be suspicious there's another reason for his removal.

  7. Consider this: Kurds have not got a unified state but when they get control of any area they govern it pretty equitably. Ukrainians have a state but they just cant stop Nazifying it and genociding others in it. Which one deserves a sovereign state? Why would USA drop support for Kurds but arm Ukraine? Hint: Turkey has proof Kushner told MbS he could murder Khashoggi.

  9. Worth mentioning Stalin's policy of just stopping Soviet forces outside Nazi held cities to give civilians " a chance " to kill the Nazis themselves. Saving Soviet soldiers. Both cruel and incredibly effective militarily. Yields a good number of stories useful in propaganda, like a raped girl who knifes a Nazi in the gut and denies him water. Civilians are the best proxies when you really need some war crimes done to put the enemy in full flight, but have to keep discipline among your own troops. Such pauses also tend to expose who were actual willing collaborators. Like, who tries to evacuate west with Nazis. Putin dusted off the 1945 rulebook I think, and will likely keep following it to deal with C14 child soldiers, just like the Allies dealt for 9 months with Hitlerjugend werewolves. Also by 1945 rulebook everyone gets to carve off a piece of the genocidal state. Putin has activated Romanians who want to annex Moldova to the Dneister, Hungarians who wants Transcarpathia back, Poles who want Gallicia. And if any of these countries have to resettle millions of refugees, they will need land. I'm not advocating any of these tactics btw. Just observing they've been used by Soviets before.
